  • Grant Committee: Rayna suggested that next year we include the plans to only award 4 grants in the letter requesting grant applications. This will allow applicants to understand the process and better adjust their request to our plans for awards.
  • Aktion Club: Thursday 15th at Pinecastle 10:30 Meeting; 11:00 Lunch.
  • Golf Tournament: Updated flyer and letter for donations are available. Flyer and shopping cart will be added to the website and linked to Facebook. Cheyenne will email electronic version of the flyer. If you have worked on the golf tournament in past years, please email Michelle tasks that need to be completed and estimate of when (days from the event) that they need to occur. Email:
  • K-Kids/Bug: School has not responded to Rayna, so we will no longer participate with this year’s school. Rande is seeking a new school for Bug awards and will attempt to coordinate for K-Kids and Bugs to move to the same school.

Membership is down to 25. Each member needs to be brainstorming ideas for potential members we can share our new membership packet with. Cheyenne can assist with distribution if you can provide name and contact information for your prospect.

Grant Committee

Six applications for grants will be emailed to committee members for review.  There will be four awards: $2,000 $2,000 $2,000 and $1,000. Grants will be distributed at the end of January.

Rande shared that Kiwanis is working 513.5 hours at the fair this year!

Save-A-Round Book Fundraiser:

  • Sample Books / Sales Packets distributed today.
  • Due back December 4th.
  • Can order online for any city (additional $5 for shipping)


Kiwanis Tony Cultural Council

TONY ALLEGRETTI,  Executive Director of Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville

  • Visit the Cultural Council Website for more information
  • Council receives allocation from City budget, which provides grants to 26 non-profit organizations
  • Funds are used for operating costs (payroll, etc.)
  • There are nearly 1,500 employees of organizations that receive grant funds
  • Focused on kids in under serviced areas
    • Cultural service internship – Students met with executive directors of all cultural organizations that receive cultural funding. The students created a blog to raise awareness for peers and family members
    • Lift Every Student – Supports exposure of children from low socio-economic areas to culture and art in the community
  • Cultural Council provides opportunities for artists and students to create business opportunities
  • Rande asked about murals on silos near the Hart Bridge – These were created (in two days!!) by “Art Republic”.

Four shifts open for the Fair!

  • Saturday, Nov. 11th – 3:45pm-7:30pm (1 slot open)
  • Sunday, Nov. 12th – 9:45am-4:00pm (1 slot open)

Gate 1 is much larger and paved this year. There are also now seven potential ticket booths , which can be scaled up or down as needed.

Gate 2 by stadium will be slow during game time, because there is no parking available in that area. Game Day tickets are only valid until 6 pm this year.

We had an organizational update meeting today, where the following topics were discussed:

Aktion Club

Events held at Pinecastle School 4911 Spring Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.

Fall Festival coming October 26 from 12 to 2:00,  We will have games: ring toss, blinko, can toss, soccer. Volunteers needed!

Christmas Party! December 15 from 11 to 2.

Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair

Crunch Time! Need volunteers to fill final 3 spaces!

New Membership Focus!

Cheyenne has asked the entire club to participate in the membership committee to help bring in new members. There is a folder available to present to potential new members explaining how the club functions including an invite to lunch.

New members luncheon will be held in the Spring… more details to come!

Weekly Speakers for 2018!

Members voted to replace the raffle fundraiser with selling the SaveAround Fundraising Book.


Meeting updates August 14th

Aktion Club will be August 24th.  We are having a pizza party.  Come join us for some fun!

Jason is still taking names for shifts at the fair.  Please let him know if you can take more shifts.

Dave will have a sign up form for the red kettle bell at the beginning of September.  The date is December 9th.  Please add it to your calendar.

Our speaker today is Paul Scott, raised in Jacksonville and went to Fletcher High.  Co Founder of V for Victory.  It was created after his 3-year-old son was diagnosed with leukemia.   Janice Ford- Director of Family service and Holly Morris- Executive Director also joined us.

July 31 Meeting Updates

Next meeting we will vote on the upcoming board and executive committee.  Please be in attendance so you are able to vote.


Aktion Club: We had a wonderful time with them last week.  Played soccer in the gym and had a hamburger lunch with the crew.  Join us on August 24th for a pizza party.

It’s The Greater Jacksonville Fair time again.  Make sure to sign up as soon as possible.  We need 3 shifts per member.  Don’t forget you can have a spouse come and join you!

Interclub are still in progress.  Steve is working on our next Interclub.  If you have not attended an Interclub this year, please do so.

Ronnie Morrell won the monthly drawing!  Congrats!!

As you are cooking, remember to collect box tops.  We provide them to Fort Caroline Elementary.



Meeting Updates: June 12th


The Greater Jacksonville Fair is coming back!  Jason is going to sign the contract today.  He will have the fair sign-up board at the next board meeting on July 10th.  It will also be at all club meetings going forward.  Make sure to sign up early to get the spots you want!

Aktion club is this Thursday.  If you have the time, please come by Pine Castle at 10:30 for some fun!

Steve has our next InterClub planned for tomorrow.  We are meeting the St. Augustine club.  Steve is driving from Buca De Peppo at the Avenues Mall.  You are welcome to meet him there if you like.

A vote was taken by the club as to whether to continue the Highway Clean Up program.  The club has voted to stop the program after this year.
