  • This was a very successful event for the club!

Eliminate Donation:

  • Bill Crawford was recognized for a $300 personal donation to the Eliminate Program
  • Our club has contributed $2,400 to this project since 2014

Golf Tournament:

Everyone needs to focus on finding golfers for the tournament! We currently have one platinum sponsor; one gold sponsor, and two silver sponsors. two golf foursomes,  and Jim B has been brining in many gift cards as prizes.

AKTION CLUB:

Was cancelled last week, but has been rescheduled to 3/22 at Pinecastle at 10:30 AM.

BUGs and K-Kids

Rande is continuing to have conversations with Spring Park Elementary for the BUGS and K-Kids programs for next year.

Boat Show Fund Raiser

Rande is continuing to research the opportunity to provide beverages to the Boat Show on April 13, 14, and 15. He is working with them to determine if we could be covered under the insurance for the show. The opportunity would involve serving beer and wine. Rande will come back to the club with a proposal once he has final details.

Membership

Rayna and Tony attended a seminar regarding improving membership, where satellite club was discussed. This was discussed with the board and Rayna and Tony will be evaluating and possibly proposing an evening club as an addition to our current lunch meeting schedule.

Cultural Council

Cheyenne’s family has donated the wall of their business to place murals and urban art. The council is working with the children to encourage leadership and to encourage participation in STEM Programs, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and Art. The wall will have a space theme and will feature Taylor Richardson, a 5th grader with a “mission to mars”. She has raised funds within the community to take disadvantaged children to motivation movie opportunities and encourage their participation in STEM programs. She has been on Good Morning America, the Today Show and worked with several celebrities to promote STEM initiatives. For more information

Inter club coming soon to Westside 3/15 Lunch Meeting at Cross Creek Restaurant on Lane Avenue.

Bill has a medical mission trip going to the Amazon and will be collecting children’s multivitamins to take to the area. Only chewable (not gummies). Please bring to the next few meetings if you wold like to contribute.

BUGS: Spring Park Elementary is very interested Rande is meeting with the Principal on Thursday

Potential fundraising opportunity: Selling alcohol at the boat show. Rande will be getting more details

  • Grant Committee: Rayna suggested that next year we include the plans to only award 4 grants in the letter requesting grant applications. This will allow applicants to understand the process and better adjust their request to our plans for awards.
  • Aktion Club: Thursday 15th at Pinecastle 10:30 Meeting; 11:00 Lunch.
  • Golf Tournament: Updated flyer and letter for donations are available. Flyer and shopping cart will be added to the website and linked to Facebook. Cheyenne will email electronic version of the flyer. Grant Committee

Six applications for grants will be emailed to committee members for review.  There will be four awards: $2,000 $2,000 $2,000 and $1,000. Grants will be distributed at the end of January.

Save-A-Round Book Fundraiser:

  • Sample Books / Sales Packets distributed today.
  • Due back December 4th.
  • Can order online for any city (additional $5 for shipping)

Kiwanis Tony Cultural Council

TONY ALLEGRETTI,  Executive Director of Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville

  • Visit the Cultural Council Website for more information
  • Council receives allocation from City budget, which provides grants to 26 non-profit organizations
  • Funds are used for operating costs (payroll, etc.)
  • There are nearly 1,500 employees of organizations that receive grant funds
  • Focused on kids in under serviced areas
    • Cultural service internship – Students met with executive directors of all cultural organizations that receive cultural funding. The students created a blog to raise awareness for peers and family members
    • Lift Every Student – Supports exposure of children from low socio-economic areas to culture and art in the community
  • Cultural Council provides opportunities for artists and students to create business opportunities
  • Rande asked about murals on silos near the Hart Bridge – These were created (in two days!!) by “Art Republic”.
